Privacy Policy

The short version

Rental Books runs on your own computer. Your bookkeeping data — your properties, tenants, and books — stays on your computer, under your control. We never receive it, and you can export it at any time in standard formats. This policy covers the much smaller set of information involved in selling you the software and supporting you: your purchase and license records.

What we collect, and why

• Purchase information: your name and email address from checkout, what you bought, the amount, and the date and time — so we can deliver your license, prove your purchase, and support you.
• License information: which version of the License Agreement you accepted and when, and which computers you have activated (up to your seat count) — so the license you bought works the way it was sold.
• Module-news email list: if you ask us to email you when a new module opens, your email address — used only for that, and every email carries an unsubscribe link.
• Support messages: what you send us when you email us, so we can answer you.

We do not store your full license key (only a scrambled fingerprint and its last 4 characters; the full key is in your welcome email), and there are no account passwords in our system — sign-in is by one-time emailed link.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe and is kept in Stripe's systems; we receive only the receipt — amount, time, and Stripe's transaction identifiers. We never see or store your full card number.

Who else handles information for us

• Stripe — payment processing.
• Cloudflare — hosts this website and the back office that stores purchase and license records and delivers the software download.
• Brevo — sends transactional email such as your welcome email, runs the module-news email list, and keeps delivery logs.
• Microsoft 365 — hosts the help@ and sales@ mailboxes, so email you send us is stored there.

We do not sell your personal information.

This website

Browsing the marketing website itself stores nothing about you in our records. A person only enters our purchase records at the moment they buy, when Stripe confirms payment — or our email list when they choose to join it.

Your choices

Email [email protected] to ask what purchase or license information we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. Some records — such as payment receipts and the license terms you accepted — may need to be kept for tax, accounting, and legal reasons.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with its effective date.
